HRV & ERV Systems: Fresh Air Without the Heat Loss
Balanced ventilation for tight, damp-prone coastal homes.
Coast homes hold moisture. Ventilation is how you get it out.
Condensation on windows, musty closets, a bathroom that never quite dries out. On the Sunshine Coast those are ventilation problems before they are heating problems. Modern homes are sealed tight for efficiency, which means stale, damp air has nowhere to go without mechanical ventilation.
What an HRV or ERV actually does
A heat recovery ventilator (HRV) pulls stale air out of your home and brings fresh air in, transferring the heat from one stream to the other so you are not throwing your heat out the wall. An energy recovery ventilator (ERV) does the same while also managing humidity transfer.
- • Fresh air in every room, all winter • Heat stays in the house, not out the vent • Less condensation, less mould risk • Balanced pressure, so no drafts or backdrafting
HRV or ERV: which one does your home need?
HRV
Best for damp climates like ours. Removes excess indoor humidity while recovering heat. The right call for most Sunshine Coast homes.
ERV
Transfers some moisture along with heat. Better for very dry indoor air or specific building envelopes. We will recommend based on your home, not a default.
HRV service and cleaning
An HRV with clogged filters and a dirty core moves a fraction of the air it should. We clean cores, replace filters, balance airflow and check the controls, usually in a single visit. If your HRV has not been serviced in years, it is overdue.
Ventilation work from Langdale to Egmont
We install and service HRVs and ERVs across the Sunshine Coast: Gibsons, Roberts Creek, Sechelt, Halfmoon Bay, Pender Harbour, Madeira Park, Egmont, Gambier and Keats Island.
Condensation on the windows already?
