A heat pump heats your home in winter and cools it in summer, and on the Sunshine Coast it is usually the most efficient way to do both. Because it runs on electricity and moves heat instead of burning fuel to create it, a heat pump can reduce household emissions, help you transition off gas and lower monthly energy bills. Our winters are mild and damp, which is exactly where a heat pump shines. Rather than burning gas or oil to make heat, it moves warmth from the outside air using BC's clean electricity. A properly sized system can use less energy and cost less to run than baseboards or an older furnace through a Sunshine Coast winter. Summer cooling comes built in.
The sizing matters more than the brand
An oversized system short-cycles and wears out early. An undersized one never quite keeps up in January. We do a proper heat loss calculation for your home before we quote anything.
Ducted or ductless: which fits your home?
Ducted heat pumps
Use your existing ductwork to heat and cool the whole house from one system. Best when ducts are in decent shape or when we are fabricating new ductwork in our own shop anyway.
Ductless mini splits
One outdoor unit feeding one or more indoor heads, no ducts needed. Ideal for older Coast homes, additions, suites and rooms that never get warm.
Rebates can make the cleaner choice more affordable
CleanBC and federal programs currently offer meaningful rebates on qualifying heat pump installs, particularly when replacing fossil fuel heating. Those incentives can reduce the upfront cost, while the system's efficiency can keep saving you money through lower energy bills. We will tell you plainly what your project qualifies for and handle the paperwork with you.
